Early Progress

I have started to work on some character and location descriptions for my main story.  When I have some of these more fully completed I will publish them here.  The characters so far are two students (who will likely be the main characters of the story), and a teacher.  I have also started on a description of the classroom.  This has been interesting.  I always enjoy books that spend a lot of time describing the scenes.

I also found this http://www.supersummary.com/fiction-writing-guide/ which seems to have some interesting links.  I have just started to go through them.

Eventually when I have some characters and locations fully worked out I plan to write some short stories that will probably tie into the main story.

Patreon Post and Other Updates

I haven't posted here or on Patreon for several months.  Hopefully this will be the start of some new posts. I posted on Patreon today also. I got an email from Patreon about a writers group that is going to be meeting once a week. This motivated me to post again. I'm also going to try attending those meetings. Hopefully that will keep me motivated to keep writing. That's all for today.

Story Start: Survival At All Costs

This is a story about man-kind facing a disaster that would require making some hard choices. I will probably finish this or a similar story at some point. I also have some other ideas about different situations where people consider changing humans to better face challenges they come up against. Survival at all costs. What does that mean? No price is too high? Survival or the individual? Survival of the species? Survival of life on Earth? If Earth was threatened with destruction, what could we save? Given a deadline of a year, what would we choose to do to give our species, or any life, the best chance for survival. It has just been discovered that a small black hole is approaching our solar system. It will swing around our sun in about two years and disrupt the orbits of all the planets in our solar system. Writing Start 2

 hello something where bear plants trees outside dirt grass animals trees perspective At first it was dark. I was contained, but I new what to do. I began stretching out, pushing through the dirt. I could feel the moist soil all around me. Then suddenly part of me burst out into light. I could feel the rays on my first leaf as it spread out. The light moved quickly and faded to darkness in the West, but reappeared just as quickly in the East. This cycle, I call them days and nights, continued for some time. In the meantime I continued to expand, both through the moist soil and out into the air. I grew a few more leaves and stretched higher into the air. I was able to move my leaves just fast enough so I could feel the light for the whole day from East to West. This continued for many cycles.  Then I began to notice the days changing.
